The time has come to update your PPCM machine. Whether you’re looking for new capabilities or need to perform routine maintenance, you may instinctively reach for a non-OEM (original equipment manufacturer) part to “hack” your machine.
Stop right there. Do not pass go! Here’s why you and your team members should always use OEM parts for your PPCM machinery (and why it will save you a lot in the long term).
PPCM Equipment is 100% Supported
If you need new parts or upgrades for any PPCM equipment, reach out to us first and foremost. We have all the parts and upgrades available for all of our machines. We also offer repair services and support to help you get peak performance from your machines.
There are several reasons why OEM parts are so crucial for the proper operation of PPCM machines (and we’ll get into that), but the most important thing to know is that OEM parts will always perform better.
These days, the internet gives us access to almost any part, component, or widget we need with the click of a search button. You can look for a part number, and chances are, someone, somewhere, is selling it.
The problem is that dupes and non-OEM spare parts (non-PPCM manufactured parts) aren’t covered under warranty. These parts won’t last as long, and in some worst cases, retrofitting your machine with the wrong part can cause long-term damage.
At PPCM, we assist with installation and updates for any retrofitting and maintenance of our paper converting equipment. We will walk you through the process and give you the support you need to do the job right. Most components are easy to replace, but you may need detailed instructions for some more complex components. At PPCM, you can get someone on the phone right away, and they can help you get the written instructions, video support, technical support, or other assistance you need for your original machine.
We offer retrofit kits and custom updates to help you achieve your goals with your PPCM machine. Enjoy total support for the life of your equipment.
Parts Designed and Produced to Manufacturer’s Specs
All PPCM parts are made to the manufacturer’s specifications. We do our engineering in-house and design all our products for optimal fit, form, and function.
While many manufacturers offer copies and reverse-engineered parts, it’s hard to know if they will fit within tolerances for your machine. It’s often a hit or miss, and the specifications may be wrong. Most reproductions won’t have the exact material, hardness, surface finish, and other critical specifications that make for the perfect fit. It might be close, but they rarely, if ever, meet all the requirements of the replacement parts.
Opting for retrofitted and copied parts may seem like a cheaper solution in the short term, but unfortunately, using a machine with an ill-fitting part can end up breaking the machine and voiding the warranty.
Think of it as your car—if you need a new part for your vehicle, you may go to any auto parts retailer and find the appropriate part. It may look the same as the OEM part, and you may feel confident about correctly installing it yourself, but often, the performance won’t quite be the same. It’s very similar with paper and fiber processing and cutting machines.
Rely on Your Warranty
PPCM machines and parts come with a warranty. We know that we can stand behind our parts because we know they’re built to standard. Should the part fail, there’s a warranty you can rely on.
We also pass on manufacturers’ warranties for certain parts, like motors and gearboxes, when PPCM stocks and supplies them—again, because we’ve taken the time to make sure that the component meets all the standards.
Often, consumable parts aren’t covered under the warranty, as they’re used constantly (think of it like the tires on your car). When you buy a machine, we’ll answer all your questions and make sure you know exactly what to expect in terms of coverage and support. We stand behind our products.
However, because the machines are so precise and carefully engineered, an outside replacement part will usually void the warranty.
The Right Fit and Function
In the industry, there are different types of fits and clearances that cover products produced to the manufacturer’s specifications. The different fits include:
- Press Fit: Using a mechanical advantage to put parts together.
- Drag Fit: Resistance when putting parts together.
- Slip Fit: Parts slip together.
The wrong component can result in the wrong fit. It’s especially an issue with press-fit components, which are very hard to replicate. When a part doesn’t fit right, problems can escalate, and damage can grow until it ultimately shortens the life of your machine.
Our tooling is for high-precision applications. PPCM parts are at the forefront of that standard. The male and female tooling parts fit together with tight tolerances on both sides—it’s this fit that makes the machine function so well.
Should a needed part be made of the wrong material or feature the wrong tolerance, the resulting movement and instability can cause wear and tear on the machine and all surrounding components. Other critical parts can get damaged, and your machine’s productivity grinds to a halt.
Go with components you can trust to last and prolong the life and health of your PPCM machine.

PPCM started in 2004, and with those years of experience comes wisdom. It also means that some of our machines are now 20 years old! Finding parts for older machines can be challenging, but at PPCM, we offer retrofit kits that allow you to upgrade and retrofit as needed.
Our machines are built to last. Better still, you’ll get reasonable lead times too. When you buy off PPCM’s shelf, you can buy with confidence, knowing you’re getting the best part for your machine.
Die-cutting and partition-making machines are a significant investment. Packaging products in-house or through a trusted packager can significantly reduce your turnaround time, your product loss, and other hazards of outsourcing. You rely on your machine, so invest in a machine that you can trust for years.
Avoid costly downtime and keep your machine working optimally with PPCM parts and components. If you have any questions or need customization, please reach out to our team. We offer unsurpassed customer service support in the business to help you maximize your output with PPCM.
